Ride on Toys

Talk about a realistic-looking rocking horse, KidKraft Henry the Horse almost makes adults wish THEY could ride!  Plush rocking horses like Henry are a rare find.  He is soft and huggable, and comes with a host of features that all kids will love.  During our testing session, upon first sight of Henry, the kids’ eyes grew wide with excitement.

This rocking horse has a red bandana around his neck and spurs hanging down from his saddle!  Just like a real horse, our staff heard more than one child exclaim. Henry the Horse also makes noises when children pull at either of his ears.  The looks on their faces when they squeeze his ear and horse sounds spring forth – the children are gleeful!  Squeezing one of Henry’s ears will make neighing sounds and galloping noises occur for more than 10 seconds.  As might be imagined, children squeeze over and over, and over, again to hear the noises.  They are delighted.  The other ear makes faster neighing noises.  Henry’s mouth moves, too, when his ears get squeezed and his tail wags.  There is so much activity surrounding this plush rocking horse that children remain entertained for some time.

KidKraft Henry the Horse relies on a solid wooden base to provide a sturdy foundation for all the rocking motion that is to come when children climb aboard.  The saddle is made of leather-like quality and fastens around the horse just like the real ones.  Our staff reports that assembling Henry is quick and painless.  The toy takes three “AA” batteries which are not included at the time of purchase.

Henry is recommended for children ages three and up.  As usual during our testing sessions, we have children who are slightly younger and slightly older than the minimum age recommended.  Almost always, the older children enjoy the rocking horse, too.  Those children under the age of three can also enjoy the toy, depending on their nearness to the recommended age and the height and developmental abilities.  As always, and even more important with younger children, adult supervision is a must, especially around a new toy.  Remember, the recommended ages from the manufacturer are a guideline.

Plush rocking horses like Henry stir a child’s imagination.  One little tot was heard to shout to his friends, “Hurry up.  Don’t you see we’ve got to catch those twain wobbers!”  Whether your little one wants to play cowboy or cowgirl, or sheriff, or whatever else imaginations can dream up, KidKraft Henry the Horse is an excellent toy with many surprising features that your little one is sure to enjoy.  The soft, brown fur and the adorable face will have your child running up to Henry in no time.  The hand holds on either side of the horse’s head are well-sized and well-positioned for little ones’ hands to hold onto.  Your little one will feel as though he/she could climb over hill and dale, riding Henry past stream and mountain as they travel on their western journey.
