Pogo Sticks

There are certain perks in being able to review toys. The first is that you get to learn about toys that are just getting on the market. The second is that you get to learn if toys really work as well as they claim to work. And the third is that sometimes, every once in awhile you get to play with a toy that reminds you of your childhood. The Flybar Foam Maverick is one of those toys that brings you back to the time when life was really good.

It is one of the new breeds of pogo sticks that has entered the market lately. It seems like every toy company is trying to make and market a new breed of this toy, and most of them are filled with more gizmos than you could possibly imagine and takes an engineering degree to figure out how they work. This toy, however, is not like that at all. When we got it out of the package we noticed how simple it was. It reminded us all of the old style except that the main spring was covered, which is great because too many of us have memories of getting skin pinched on our legs accidentally while jumping around. The Flybar Foam Maverick, however, has covered the springs in order to keep children safe. When you reel it, however, you realize that not only did they cover the spring, they covered it in safety foam!

The foam acts as not only a safety barrier, but also a comfort one as well, as it is much more comfortable to grip this style of pogo stick than it is a metal one, and it doesn’t feel slippery like metal models feel as well. Flybar has designed this toy to be not for older children, but for those just starting out learning how to jump on a pogo stick. The recommended age for children to use the toy is between the ages of 5 and 9, and it is designed to support up to 80 pounds.

The children we had test it out did great on it and were jumping around the building in a matter of minutes! They found that they had no problem learning how to jump on the sticks and all of them had smiles on their faces and, a few minutes after they began, some sweat on their brow! The Flybar Foam Maverick is not only a good way to remember your past and to bring back a toy that was so much fun for us as children, it’s an excellent way to detach your child from whatever video game they are currently connected to and to get them outside jumping around. Once they learn how to maneuver this toy, Flybar also has other styles and sizes of sticks that you can purchase to let them expand on the amount of tricks that they can do!
