Remember the days when all Little Billy wanted for Christmas was a pogo stick? There are tons of old movies showing young children bouncing around their homes and their yards on their pogo sticks. Now, however, children dream of getting video games and laptop computers. What happened to the good old days when it was all that a child wanted? Unfortunately for everyone, those days are gone. Or are they? Thanks to the Flybar 800, it looks like they may be making a dramatic comeback!

The first thing that you need to know is that the Flybar 800 is not your average stick. It’s not like the ones that you would see on an old movie, nor is it one that is designed for young children. The manufacturer says that only children who are twelve years of age or older should give this a try, but we believe that should only be followed if your twelve year old has good balance and is known for making good decisions, because trust us when we say that this baby can fly!
We noticed that the stick was put together well right out of the box. The materials were all strong and sturdy, and there was a strong feeling about it that made you think that maybe it could handle the weight of a 180 pound adult. We read the instructions, which showed you how easy it was to adjust the tension, and got ready to fly. While the instructions say that you can easily jump five feet, we are here to tell you that it’s not quite that easy. The Flybar 800 isn’t a rocket powered stick, and it won’t let you jump high into the air without making you work for it. In order to go high, especially if you have the tension cranked up, you really have to put in some effort. A few minutes into jumping and you’ll notice that your lungs are pumping just as hard as your legs are! While the old pogo sticks that used to be ridden around were fairly easy to get height on and control, it is vital to realize that the Flybar 800 is also easy to ride on, but that it can be extremely dangerous if you don’t take the right precautions. One of our testers almost took a header into the sidewalk, but fortunately she was wearing head gear and was able to catch herself before she took a hard fall.
While this isn’t the type of stick you remember from the movies, it is the type of fun gadget that you will long to get in order to remind you of how great life used to be. And younger teens will love that these pogo sticks can fly so high! In just a few days they’ll be able to get five feet, or higher, into the air, towering over their friends and getting great exercise at the same time.
