Few toys evoke memories of childhood quite like the pogo stick does, and fortunately, many companies are picking up on that with a new generation of toys designed for those of us who remember. The Flybar 1200 is just that kind of toy, and our testers seemed to agree.
This toy is extremely easy to put together. After we took it out of the box, we only had to tweak it a moment or two before it was ready for our testers. This is quite a switch from many of the toys we work with, as usually, extensive adult assembly is required. Fortunately, that’s not the case here. The inaugural bounce was a blast, and after a short minute of jumping on it, almost everyone remembered not only why pogo sticks were so much fun, but also why they were so good for you! Jumping around on a toy like this gets your blood flowing, your heart working, and your legs an amazing workout, not to mention the other parts of your body that are used to help you to keep your balance. But unlike the old models of the past, the Flybar 1200 is a bit more advanced.
The Flybar 1200 is designed not just for children who long to jump around, or for adults who want to recapture some of their childhood, but also for kids who enjoy showing some level of creativity with toys. If you watch some of the promotional material, you will see that there have been expert stunt artists who have taken this toy to new heights! They have maneuvered the machine into different tricks and can do everything from front and back flips to bouncing off of stairs and even off of walls! While we don’t recommend that the average twelve year old try this, we do realize that if you’re someone who loves to do stunts, this will definitely be the toy to try. There is quite a bit of work involved with the stunts, but it offers a great way to add creativity to any child’s day.

We learned a few things right off of the bat. Number one: always have safety equipment on. A helmet is a must and, if a younger teen is riding it, you may want to insist on elbow and knee pads as well! The next thing we learned is that it takes a lot of muscle to get this toy flying high. A regular jump on the Flybar 1200 won’t get you five feet in the air, but it will make your thigh muscles burn quite a bit. And the third thing we learned is that a pogo stick is a great way to get a kid away from video games and into the fresh air! All of the kids that came near this toy were ready to jump around for hours and those that were older spent even longer trying to devise, and execute, new tricks. This is one toy that has earned our seal of approval.
