What’s better than a scooter that you can cruise around upon on your street? One that will pull you around! This is the premise behind the electric scooters that have come out in the last few years. Someone decided that it was a good idea to put a motor in a child’s toy, and a classic was born. Now tons of children are all begging to get a scooter that not only lets them get places, but that actually takes them places – A scooter like the Razor E100 Electric Scooter.

This isn’t a scooter that you have to push the entire time you’re riding it. This is an powered model, which can actually get up to a speed of 10 miles an hour and can get your child from your house to your neighbor’s house in just a few seconds or even to school, as long as it is only a few blocks away. There are a number of differences and similarities that we noticed between the normal scooter and the electric Razor scooters. The first thing we noticed is that the e100 is quite a bit heavier than a push or “kick” scooter. This is because it requires a small engine in order to make it move, making it something that an average child would have an extremely difficult time carrying around, as it weighs in at about 25 pounds. Also unlike the regular scooters, it doesn’t fold down, making it a bit more difficult to bring with you when you’re going somewhere. But if that place isn’t too far away, the scooter can take you where you’re going instead!

There is a little bit of assembly necessary when you first get the Razor E100 Electric Scooter, so be prepared for that, but it’s nothing that would take more than ten minutes or so to figure out, and the directions are great. This model works very simply: just jump on it and give it a push start to 3 miles an hour. Once you reach that speed, the engine will kick on and you will be able make use of the chain driven motor to go from 3 miles an hour to 10 miles an hour in just a moment or two. The scooter stays amazingly steady during the motorized ride, allowing you to direct where it is to go without feeling as though you are going to fall off.

The Razor E100 Electric Scooter is one of the models that is designed for younger children, as long as they are over the age of eight and under 120 pounds. The slow speed is perfect for children – giving them enough speed to have fun without giving them enough speed to be destructive or to do dangerous things. One of the things we loved the most about this scooter was how long it would go on a single charge. With one charge we were able to test it for almost an hour, which is more than long enough to ride around your yard or, for many, even long enough to get to school and back.
