Ride on Toys

As we’ve watched the line of Power Wheels toys grow over the last several years, we have noticed that there can be a pretty large different in price from one model to the next.  Some of these terrific electric ride on toys are what we would consider high- end, while others are priced lower, making them a bit more accessible to families on a budget.  We’ve noticed that one of the most affordably priced Power Wheels toys is a little green fun machine called the Power Wheels Lil Quad.  It’s built especially for kids ages one to two years old, so it’s great to see such an affordable price tag on a toy that kids will outgrow in just a couple years.  But these electric ride on toys are so durable and long lasting that you can pass it down to a younger child or a friend’s child when your little one outgrows it and moves on to a bigger electric ride on toy.

The Power Wheels Lil Quad is perfect for a first battery powered ride on toy for young children.  It is designed to look just like a real ATV, or All Terrain Vehicle.  It has built in footrests so that kids can easily keep their feet where they are supposed to be.  Instead of pedals, it is operated with the push of a large button designed just for little hands.  Kids simply push and hold down the button to make the car go, and then the car stops when the button is released.  This provides not only easy operation but also a built in safety feature.  If a child lets go of the handle bar, the vehicle will stop.  The maximum speed on the Power Wheels Lil Quad is just two miles per hour, and there is no reverse gear.  These simple settings make it great for little kids who are learning the basics of electric ride on toys.  The Lil Quad has a generous forty pound weight limit and can drive forward on any hard surface or on grass.

The Power Wheels Lil Quad is operated by a small six volt battery.  A single charge lasts for about an hour, plenty of time for a toddler to be worn out and ready for a rest.  The toy also comes with a charger so that parents can hook the battery up to charge it as soon as it runs down.  That way, the Lil Quad will be all ready to go for next time.  One important thing for parents to remember when using battery powered ride on toys is that they shouldn’t be left out in the rain, as this can cause corrosion on the battery and shorten the toy’s life.  If you don’t have a garage, even throwing a plastic tarp over the toy can keep the battery dry and safe from the elements.  Besides this one point, the toy is quite low maintenance, durable, and built to be very long lasting so that your child can enjoy it until he or she is big enough to upgrade.
