Electric

As any parent knows, kids just love motorcycles.  When they see one cruising down the street, they get excited- they point and squeal and wave at the driver.  So we figure that an electric motorcycle would be a pretty safe bet for parents who are shopping for a gift.  Instead of just waving, they’ll get to be the driver and cruise around the neighborhood in style.

Parents who are shopping for electric ride on toys are likely to find the selection absolutely dizzying, but they are mostly cars and trucks.  So we were pleased to see the Power Wheels Harley Davidson released for sale.  It’s just a little different from the ordinary, and the kids we’ve seen on them really love the feeling of riding a “real” motorcycle.  It is recommended for kids ages three and over and has a 65 pound weight limit, and we of course recommend close parental supervision and safety gear use for not just this, but all electric riding toys.

The Power Wheels Harley Davidson is made to look as much as possible like a real Harley.  It has the trademark Harley logo and real chrome detail.  The tailpipes are a very realistic detail, and the seat is low to allow for kids to climb on and off easily.  The handlebars are very real looking too.  Realistic looking toys keep kids interested.  The vehicle moves when kids press on the foot pedal, and there is also a brake for safety.  Another safety feature is the high speed lockout that parents can use to disable the five miles per hour capability, so kids will have to stick with the low 2.5 miles per hour during the learning phase.  We have noticed that some battery powered ride on toys like cars and trucks can be pretty challenging for the youngest kids to steer because they have to get the hang of a steering wheel.  But with the Power Wheels Harley Davidson, kids steer using the handlebars, and it’s easier for little drivers to go where they want to.  We’ve also noticed that this toy has more power for uphill rides than some other models.  It has no trouble at all powering up a steep driveway.

One of our favorite features of the Power Wheels Harley Davidson is how stable it is.  When you look at it, you think it’s a two wheeled vehicle- and that it probably requires some balance.  But it stands up on its own, and kids who can’t ride a regular bicycle have no problem riding this toy.  On closer inspection, we found that this stability is due to two smaller wheels beside the larger back wheel.  You don’t see them at first because they are hidden behind the tailpipes.  We thought this was a pretty clever way to conceal a safety feature, but we’re not too surprised because we know that a lot of thought and planning goes into all Power Wheels toys.  Fisher Price is one of the best known and most trusted toy companies, and they are truly committed to your child’s safety.  We are pretty comfortable stating that parents can trust Fisher Price.
