Electric

The Power Wheels Ford F-150 is one grown-up little toy pick-up truck.  This one is for every would-be he-man and all around tough guy, not for the faint of heart.  Girls can like it, too, though!  This version of battery powered riding toy offers a wind shield and a side view mirror.  Adding to the real-life feel of this sturdy pick-up model of electric ride on toys is the fact that your little one can lift the hood, look under it, and find what will look like to him/her like a pretty realistic engine.

It is great for rugged, off-road driving.  It is 18 inches x 22 inches x 47 inches and weighs in at 48.5 pounds.  It operates on a 6-volt battery, which is included, along with a battery charger.  This model of was purposefully created to resemble the new F-150 design of real pick-up truck.  Just like a real truck, it has storage room in the back and provides a “Tonneau” cover to protect the stuff your tiny tot is hauling.

The Power Wheels Ford F-150 was constructed, just like its real-size counterpart, to handle tough jobs.  It is recommended for use by children aged 2 years to 4 years, with a weight capacity of approximately 65 pounds.  As with any new toy, and especially any motorized transportation toy, adult supervision is recommended.  If the child knows an adult (dad, brother, uncle, grandpa, cousin, etc.) who owns a real Ford F-150 pick-up truck, he/she will be in seventh heaven comparing the two.

It was easy for our child test participants to drive and figure out.  One problem they had in common was the concept of “going in reverse,” but that soon was mastered.  Battery powered ride on toys, such as this one, offer kids the educational opportunity of learning, to a small extent, how real vehicles operate.  They learn the concepts of steering and turning, braking, going forward, going in reverse, how to look where they drive (hopefully), etc.  It can be an educational experience as well as providing hours of entertainment and fun.

Power wheels toys like this pick-up truck operate on batteries.  Depending on how much the Ford F-150 is driven, the battery may last for a day or two without recharging.  However, if the toy gets an abundance of use, obviously, the best option would be to plug the battery into the battery charger overnight and let it rejuvenate.  Some parents opt to purchase an extra battery, or there is a “speedy” charger which can be purchased separately.

Most electric ride on toys take some amount of assembly.  The staff noted that instructions for this toy were clear-cut, straight-forward, and easy to follow.  A maximum of one hour was the longest it took for one person to assemble this toy.  It is always advised to keep children out of the reach of any small parts and pieces before the toy is fully put together.
