Electric

The Barbie line of toys is very popular with little girls, so we were thrilled when Fisher Price started building Barbie- themed Power Wheels toys especially for little girls.  Although all the Power Wheels toys can be viewed as unisex, we love the fact that there are a few designed just for girls.  Among these toys, the Power Wheels Barbie Mustang is certainly one of the most popular, and for good reason.  It is one of the sportiest looking electric ride on toys we’ve seen, complete with a rear spoiler, the trademark pony grille and even headlamps on the front.  The hot pink “paint job” is a detail that girls will love about the Power Wheels Barbie Mustang.  We think it’s terrific that there is a Power Wheels version of the tiny car Barbie herself has been driving around in for years.

The Power Wheels Barbie Mustang is designed for kids ages two to six years.  It has two speed settings, 2.5 miles per hour and five miles per hour.  Parents can use the high speed lock out feature to make sure that beginners can only drive a maximum of 2.5 miles per hour for safety during the learning experience.  It’s a good idea for kids just learning how to operate electric ride on toys to learn at lower speed and then work up to the higher speed setting once there is a little driving experience under her belt.  This particular electric ride on toy has a 12 volt battery and comes equipped with a battery charge indicator to let kids know when it’s time to recharge.  A single battery charge lasts for about 45 minutes, and possibly longer if kids stick to driving on smooth surfaces instead of grass.

The Power Wheels Barbie Mustang is designed to look just like the real Ford Mustang, although the last time we checked, Ford doesn’t actually make a full sized pink Mustang.  Every aspect of these battery powered ride on toys is meant to be realistic, from the gauges in the dashboard to the electronic equalizer that lights up when tunes from the pretend radio play.  Kids make the car go forward by pressing down on the “gas pedal”, and there is also a brake pedal to provide quick stopping power.  This great toy also has a reverse gear, so young drivers can back up if they need or want to.  The battery charge indicator lets kids know when it’s time to hook up to the charger, which is also included with the car.  One feature this toy has that many other electric ride on toys don’t have is the built in cup holders, so kids can take a drink with them on the road.  All these features in a cute convertible Mustang make this car one of the most popular battery powered ride on toys for girls.

As with all other toys of this type, it’s a good idea for little drivers to have constant adult supervision.  These toys should never be used in the street, as they can be hard for adult drivers to see because of their small size.

I’ve purchased this car for my granddaughter but have not picke it up yet. Does the car come already charged or does it have to be charged after it’s unpackaged? Also, how long does it have to be charged for?
